Ancient Egyptians Buried With Amulets of Power
Ancient Egyptian material culture is rich with trinkets and symbology. So rich, in fact, that it has an entire subset of archaeology called Egyptology dedicated to it. Many of these trinkets, such as the amulets of power, were believed to be imbued with protective magic to help the dead in the afterlife.
In Egyptian Magic, E.A. Wallis Budge writes that the Egyptian religion “represents a collection of ideas and superstitions which belong to a savage or semi-savage state of existence, and which maintained their hold in a degree upon the minds of the Egyptians long after they had advanced to a high state of civilization.”
